Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said that it is not right to ask for Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation, till the time the investigation on the Vyapam scam is over.

"Earlier, the High Court was monitoring the matter and now people called for CBI probe, and we have agreed for that as well. Let's wait what the CBI has to say. It is not right to ask for the resignation of a person who is ruling, when the investigation is going on," said Parrikar.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had met President Pranab Mukherjee earlier amidst speculation that Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav may be asked to step down in the wake of Vyapam scam controversy.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Governor, the Centre and the state government on a plea seeking the removal of the governor Ram Naresh Yadav.

The Vyapam Scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments. Candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test.
