Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade has joined a chorus of support for fast bowler Mitchell Johnson to be recalled in the return Ashes series in Australia following his impressive, albeit brief, performance in the rain-washed third one-dayer against England at Edgbaston.

Left-armer Johnson's push for an Ashes recall continues to gather pace after he bowled with fierce pace and movement in taking 1-20 from five overs in the game, although he failed to add Jonathan Trott to his scalps.

Stating that Johnson is bowling at a rate comparable to James Pattinson and former Test quicks Brett Lee and Shaun Tait, Wade said that although his rhythm is amazing, his accuracy is second to none at the moment, adding that Johnson is taking early wickets for Australia at the moment.

According to Wade, Johnson may make the squad for the return Ashes as there are not a lot of available fast bowlers for their team at the moment, adding that if he continued his form, then Johnson will definitely be in the mix for the first Ashes Test.

Johnson has impressed in virtually all of Australia's limited overs games in the UK, taking 2-36 from 10 overs in an 88-run win over England in Manchester and 4-36 in the one-off game against Scotland in Edinburgh, the report added.
