Scientists have claimed that higher the floor a person lives on, the greater will be their life expectancy.

According to researchers at the University of Bern, Switzerland, the chances of dying from serious lung disease was 40 percent more among residents who lived on the ground floor compared to those living on eighth floor or above, News.com.au reported.

Researchers also said that deaths from cardiac diseases were 35 percent higher.

They said that one reason could be that people living in high-rises are more likely to climb stairs, which boosts their fitness, while air pollution and wealth could also be factors.
