Former Pakistan pace spearhead and current coach Waqar Younis admitted that experimenting veteran batsman Younis Khan as an opener in the much-anticipated World Cup group-stage game against arch-rivals had failed.

India extended their unbeaten streak against Pakistan in World Cup to 6-0 after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men claimed a 76-run win over neighbors.

Reflecting on Younis' performance, Waqar said that the experiment to use Younis wasn't successful, adding that it was not too tough to drop a senior player but in a tournament like the World Cup one try to use maximum experience, the Express Tribune reported.

Waqar further said that when they used Younis at number three or four he was not scoring runs so they used him as an opener but it didn't work.

Vowing to stage comeback, Waqar said that it was just the start and there were more games to play and they would come back in the matches ahead, the report added.

Pakistan will next meet the West Indies on Saturday at Hagley Oval.
