Australian spin bowling legend Shane Warne has claimed that he did not have any other plans besides playing golf and drinking a lot with mates during the New Zealand Open celebrity challenge in Arrowtown.

Warne, who stood out wearing bright pink at Millbrook Resort, finished with one of the best rounds of the morning to be eight under par with teammate and professional golfer Peter O'Malley.

Warne admitted that he got frustrated at times during his round at the New Zealand Open celebrity challenge in Arrowtown on Thursday, Stuff.co.nz reported.

However, he claimed that he ended up with a pretty good score but added that that's only because of two good holes and O'Malley, who had a few birdies. He claimed that there were a few hacks out there, a few shanks, but insisted that there was a couple of good holes between it.

Warne, playing for the first time at Millbrook, admitted being frustrated at times including when he three-putted the 18th. He said that at the end of the day they didn't really play that well and they managed to scramble.

The pair played alongside professional golfer Mark Brown and former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who said Warne was good value to play with.

Warne also said that he didn't have any other plans while he was in the resort besides golf and a lot of drinking with mates.
