Cricket Australia (CA) chief James Sutherland has said Australian Test batsman David Warner will not be scratched as a future captaincy candidate despite his social media outburst at journalists.
The 26-year-old is scheduled to appear by teleconference at a CA disciplinary hearing after being reported for an alleged breach of the body's code of behaviour.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, he is expected to arrive in Sydney from India, where he has been playing for the past six weeks with Indian Premier League team Delhi Daredevils.
There are speculations that Warner could become a successor to Michael Clarke as Australian captain.
Warner is expected to plead guilty at a hearing after being charged with breaching CA's code of conduct over his Twitter attack on two journalists on Saturday.
He is facing sanctions ranging from a fine, suspension or counselling following his heated exchange with News Limited's Robert Craddock and Malcolm Conn.
Warner took to Twitter after he had taken exception to an article critical of the Indian Premier League, where he is playing with the Delhi Daredevils, the report added.
