Australia batsman David Warner has asked his teammate Shane Watson to push on after being struck on the helmet during a training session for the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The swashbuckling all-rounder reportedly started out slowly facing the bowling machine in the indoor nets, and then moved outside where he faced only net bowlers rather than the Australian pace bowlers.
Commenting on Watson's decision of facing net bowlers, Warner said that a lot of them like to prepare differently as it was about feeling bat on ball and was getting one's feet right for the game. He admitted that he himself hadn't really faced their quick bowlers as much, News.com.au reported.
Justifying Watson's decision, he said that it was tough to face bowlers in narrow nets as sometimes it felt like they were bowling at 160 km/h rather than 140 km/h, the report added.
Warner further said that the incident shook Shane up a lot more than he anticipated as he was close to the late cricketer Phillip Hughes, who passed away after succumbing to injuries he endured from a bouncer at the SCG.
It looked fantastic to see him train again today, he added.
