Seeking to corner the Central Government, the Congress party on Friday asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif was a breakthrough or 'break our bones'.

"They never told the country that he is thinking about meeting the Pakistani Prime Minister and just went ahead and met him. After the meeting, there were huge celebrations here that a breakthrough had occurred, but I want to ask if it was a breakthrough or break our bones?" Congress leader Salman Khurshid said at a media briefing here.

"Since the very next day, we are being attacked and 18 civilians and a dozen soldiers have been martyred and at least 800 ceasefire violations have taken place since the past one year," he added.

Khurshid also reminded the NDA Government of its stance when the previous UPA regime sought to mend relations with Pakistan.

"When we tried to mend relations with Pakistan, the opposition used to say that talks and terror don't go hand in hand," he stressed.
