Former Australian captain Steve Waugh has said that he believes the nation should worry less about England's style of play and concentrate on getting the wickets they need to reclaim the Ashes.

According to Metro.co.uk, the war of words ahead of the forthcoming series Down Under was cranked up a notch by legendary spinner Shane Warne's criticism of Alastair Cook's captaincy this week.

Warne continued his theme from the summer by suggesting that Cook's leadership was holding England back and could cost them the urn this winter, the report said.

Waugh said that he would not be listening too much to what Warne or anyone else has to say just now after getting beaten to England 2-0, adding that if someone wins 3-0, there cannot be too much criticism.

He added that from Australia's point of view, they have to stand up and be able to get the job done, adding that they have to go out there and earn the wickets they need to win Test matches.

He further said that England is a solid, reliable side and to win any Ashes series 3-0 was an excellent result.

However, Waugh is expecting a closely fought series and dampened any suggestion the contest may not be as hotly anticipated this time around, coming so quickly on the heels of the summer's meeting, the report added.
