Ahead of the semi-final French Open showdown against Andy Murray, defending champion Stan Wawrinka has insisted that the British maestro is well ahead of him despite both men having captured two Grand Slam titles each.

Wawrinka stormed into the last four after he hammered Spain's Albert Ramos 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (9-7) to set up a clash against Murray at the Roland Garros.

While Wawrinka will aim to defend his title, which he won last year in a sensational win over top-ranked Novak Djokovic, Murray bids to become the first British to reach Paris final since Bunny Austin in 1937.

Wawrinka insisted that he might have won the same number of grand slams as him, but added that Murray is well ahead of him considering all the titles, the finals and the Masters he had achieved, Sport24 reported.

Describing Murray's career as 'impressive', Wawrinka further pointed out the former is among the 'Big Four' (with Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal) in the world and had always managed to reach the semifinals or the finals with them despite having fewer titles.

Wawrinka has a total of 14 titles, including his two majors and one Masters in contrast to Murray's figures of 36 titles with 12 at the Masters level.
