West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Sunday expressed his concern over the gang-rape of a 72-year-old nun in West Bengal and said such incidents taking place at religious places are condemnable.
"Such incidents taking place at religious places are condemnable and should be taken very seriously," said Tripathi told the media.
"I would request the society to help and provide information about this incident to trace the criminals and create an environment where such incidents don't take place," he added.
The nun was allegedly gang-raped in Ranaghat area of West Bengal's Nadia district on Saturday when more than ten suspected dacoits entered the Convent of Jesus and Mary.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has condemned the incident and ordered a CID investigation into the matter.
