Public Relations Officer (PRO) Defence Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta on Monday confirmed that the Pakistani Army had violated the ceasefire agreement in Jammu and Kashmir, and assured that the Indian Army is alert and is monitoring the situation.
"The Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation. They used automatics and rocket propelled grenades (RPGs). So far, we have not retaliated... The situation is being monitored and analysed by us," Mehta told ANI.
"In the same area, a couple of days ago, we had successfully eliminated an infiltrator. We are alert and the surveillance grid is in place," he added.
Pakistan broke ceasefire three times on Monday, the latest incident occurring in the Hiranagar sector.
One Border Security Force jawan has been injured in the firing.
