The family, after the acquittal of Aarushi's parents on Thursday, expressed gratitude towards the judiciary for relieving the couple from the nine-year-long journey in the murder trial of their daughter Aarushi and said they are emotional drained after hearing the decision.

B G Chitnis, a former group captain in the Indian Air Force and father of Nupur Talwar, who along with her husband Rajesh were acquitted by the Allahabad High in the 2008 murder of their teenage daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, said, he is "emotionally drained" after hearing the decision.

"At my age, it was very trying for me to see my daughter and son-in-law behind the bars for the crime they did not commit. I have seen them suffering," he said.

Vandana Talwar, Aarushi's aunt said the journey of last ten years has been exhausting for the family.

"We are deeply relieved and grateful to God for the verdict. It's been an exhausting journey for us and it has been very trying time for our family. We have suffered a lot for almost ten years," she said while addressing the media.

She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the High Court for acquitting Rajesh and Nupur and thanked all the well-wishers for being with the family in the difficult time.

The family refused to give further comments on the judgment declared today.

The Allahabad High court on Thursday allowed the appeals filed by Dr. Nupur Talwar and Dr. Rajesh Talwar in the murder case of their daughter Aarushi Talwar and domestic help Hemraj and has set aside the sentence of life imprisonment award by CBI court at Ghaziabad.

The judgement has been passed by a two judges bench comprises justice B K Narayan and justice Arvind Kumar Mishra-1.

Allowing the appeals the court was of the view that as per circumstances and evidence on record they cannot be held guilty.

It is to recall that CBI court at Ghaziabad had convicted the two accused Aarushi's parents Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar for double murder and had sentenced them rigorous imprisonment for life.

The judgement of the CBI court dated November 26, 2013 was challenged by Nupur Talwar and Rajesh Talwar by filing separate appeals.
