Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday welcomed the announcement of dates for state assembly elections in Bihar and said that the BJP-led alliance would face defeat.
"I waited for this announcement. We will defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in this battle," Yadav told reporters here.
"I wish the polls were wrapped up in single phase, but we are totally prepared," he added.
"This is no ordinary election, this election will result in 'reverse countdown' for the central government," he said.
Elections in Bihar will begin from October 12. They will be held in five phases.
The results will be declared on November 8.
