Asserting that the entire nation wants the Ram temple to be built, Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas chief Mahant Janamajai Sharan Maharaj on Friday said that the temple should not be built at the cost of peace.
"Everyone in the country wants the Ram temple, every priest and follower wants the Ram temple. But we don't want it at the cost of peace," Maharaj told ANI here while reacting to Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik's statement regarding the Ram temple.
Meanwhile, Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the makeshift temple at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid site, said that both Hindus and Muslims should respect the Governor's statement as he has voiced the feelings of the people.
"The Governor has expressed the feeling of the people. The people want that Ram temple should be constructed here. Both the sides should respect what the Governor feels, he has said it for the people," Das said.
The demand for Ram temple has again gathered momentum with various right wing factions speaking out in support of the Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik's statement that a Ram temple should be built in Ayodhya.
"People of the nation want Ram Mandir to be made, that wish should be fulfilled as soon as possible," Naik had said.
