The Congress Party on Sunday alleged that adverse weather conditions and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have hit the farmers hard.

"Weather and Modi, both have hit the farmers hard. We will not rest, we will continue our struggle till we ensure that the Modi Government bends down before the landless labourers and the farmer," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told the media here.

"Farmers in lakhs have come from all over country to express their anguish and pain. Farmers demand justice for their cause from the present day government," he added.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi earlier today accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of being anti-farmer and said farmers and workers in the country are worried as they feel that the government has forgotten them.

Addressing the farmers' rally organised by the party at Ramlila Grounds in the national capital, Gandhi said the farmers strengthen the nation before industrialists as they feed the nation.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi also came down heavily on the government, saying relief announced by it for farmers affected by hailstorm and untimely rain is worthless.
