Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his side's 2-1 win over title contenders Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium has strengthened their hopes of winning the Premier League title for the first time since 2004.

German midfielder Ozil set up superb goals for Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud to help Arsenal secure their third consecutive win and move closer to within two points of surprise leaders Leicester City.

Reflecting on his side's performance, Wenger said that it was a vital game, insisting that his team had shown the ingredients which required in big games. Although he said that it was too early to predict the league winner, the Frenchman added that the win had strengthened their belief of claiming the title, the Guardian reported.

Ozil proficiently played the role of instigator as Arsenal held a commanding 2-0 lead in first-half stoppage time.

Wenger also heaped praise on Ozil, describing the German's talent as exceptional and saying that he has developed his physical attributes and physical commitment. He also said that Ozil has realised he could help Arsenal in every game.
