Wenger hails Arsenal's 'greatest escape' post CL knockout qualification

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on his side's perfect Champions league victory against Olympiakos, describing it as a 'greatest escape', as they progress through to the knockout stages of the tournament.

France's striker Olivier Giroud produced a scintillating performance by netting a hat-trick as Arsenal overcame Olympiakos 3-0 in their Group F clash.

Reflecting on his performance, the 66-year-old manager said that he was extremely proud of his team and admitted that it was one of the greatest performances they had given in Europe, the Mirror reported.

Describing Arsenal as a 'real' team, Arsenal further said that it was an outstanding performance and a fantastic achievement for the team as a whole.

He also lavished praise on Giroud and said that he was happy for him.

The manager stressed that the results had made them stronger and strengthened their belief, adding that they were looking forward to the upcoming matches.

Arsenal, who finished second in group standings behind Bayern Munich, can now get Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Zenit St Petersburg, Wolfsburg and Barcelona in Champions League draw.
