Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that it is 'ridiculous' to brand his side as potential Premier League winners so early in the season.
Arsenal moved two points clear at the top of the table with a 2-1 victory at Swansea City on Saturday, attaining its fifth successive victory in the league despite a shock opening-day loss to Aston Villa.
According to Sport24, Wenger, however, insisted that he would not let his players get carried away ahead of themselves in the wake of Tuesday's Champions League Group F clash against Napoli at the Emirates Stadium, and ridiculed talk of his side being potential winners so early this season
Stating that it is important to have a good balance between ambition and humility, the Frenchman said that even though they have ambitions to win the league, it is necessary for the players to tone their confidence as they have only played six games, although he added that the team has a good humility level and is conscious of the need to improve.
Arsenal, who beat Fenerbahce in the play-offs to reach the Champions League group stages for a 16th consecutive season, opened their group stage campaign with victory in Marseille, the report added.
