Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of legendary music director MS Viswanathan.
The official twitter handle of the Prime Minister's Office shared his message.
"The unfortunate demise of Shri MS Viswanathan is a major loss to music lovers. People across generations enjoyed his compositions: PM," it posted.
"When it came to music, Shri MS Viswanathan was always ahead of his time. Condolences to his family & his several admirers: PM @narendramodi," it added.
Fondly referred to as MSV, the composer was reportedly undergoing treatment for old-age related ailments and breathing problems before his condition deteriorated.
MSV was a popular music director in the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries and the 87-year-old had over 750 movies to his credit.
