Sylvester Stallone, who starred with legendary footballer Pele in 1981's football drama 'Escape to Victory', has shed light on how the retired footie ace broke his finger during the filming of the flick.

The 'Rocky' star told the BBC that he played a goalkeeper in the film and he was trying to block a penalty by Pele when he broke his finger that never healed properly.

The 67-year-old actor explained that Pele had put on a pair of World War II shoes, which were steel-tipped, and the football was like a cannonball as it was twice as thick and heavy as footballs are today.

Stallone said that Pele told him that he was going to take one penalty shot and showed him exactly where he was going to put it, so he thought that it was just soccer and no big deal.

But, when Pele took the shot, the ball just flew past him before he could even move, Stallone asserted.

He insisted that the next time Pele took the shot, the ball ripped through the back of the net and broke a window in the barracks where they were filming.

Stallone added that he found a new kind of respect for Pele then.
