Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Sunday said that just as the Aam Aadmi Party government was close to working out a solution to the rising pollution in the national capital, the National Green Tribunal ordered banned the entry of diesel vehicles older than ten years in the city.

"The government is concerned about the rising pollution in Delhi. But just as we were working on a solution, the NGT sent the order. We will request the NGT in writing for another hearing. We are working out the details and will put it before the court," Rai told ANI.

Earlier in the day, truck drivers said that they will go on strike in New Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) starting April 13 midnight, in protest against the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ruling, which has banned all diesel vehicles older than 10 years from entering the capital in order to improve the city's air quality.

The NGT order was follows a similar one passed in November last year banning all vehicles over 15 years old from plying in the city.
