The number of new Ebola cases reported in the three worst-hit countries in Africa has dropped to its lowest level since late June, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.

With 65 new cases in Sierra Leone, 30 in Guinea and four in Liberia, the WHO said that the three countries jointly reported a total of 99 new cases for the week ending January 25, reported the CNN.

However, the United Nations agency added that Guinea's figure rose from 20 confirmed cases in the previous week.

The WHO report said that the western district of Forecariah, where the local community showed high levels of resistance to measures to limit the virus spread, was the worst-hit in Guinea, with half the new cases for the week.
