Ava DuVernay will not be directing Marvel's Black Panther. The director confirmed the news with Essence Magazine.
While talking to Essence Magazine, the 42-year-old 'Selma' helmer said that Marvel had certain way of doing things, which she thinks was fantastic but her ideas didn't match with theirs, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
She loved being considered for it, but they just didn't see eye to eye when it came to the story, and it was better for her to back off now than to cite creative differences later, she added.
The film stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, the black superhero who rules the nation of Wakanda.
