Filmmaker Oliver Stone has revealed why he declined to helm Martin Luther King Jr.'s biopic, asserting that producers would not approve his script that showed the slain Civil Rights leader's faults.

The Oscar-winning director took to Twitter and wrote that his script dealt with issues of adultery, conflicts within the movement, and King's spiritual transformation into a higher, more radical being, ABC News reported.

Stone continued saying that the estate and the 'respectable' black community that guard King's reputation won't approve it, adding that they suffocate the man and the truth.
