A recent study revealed that human breast milk bought by parents over the internet is not safe enough as 10 percent of these milk samples contained added cow's milk.

The study led by Nationwide Children's Hospital tried to investigate that online breast milk is safe for babies or not, and observed that cow milk was added in it and caused a big danger for babies, as they could possibly have infectious diseases from bacterial and viral contamination.

Sarah A. Keim, lead author of the study said that cow's milk and infant formula resembles human milk that's why added to boost volumes without the recipient knowing, and this adulterated milk poses risk to infants with an allergy or intolerance to cow's milk, that could be very harmful.

Dr. Keim added that they were concerned that, as money was exchanged in these transactions so there might be an incentive to boost milk volumes in order to make more money.

The researchers suggested that mothers who consider purchasing breast milk online should beware as one couldn't be sure that he was safe and healthy milk for baby.

The study is published in the journal Pediatrics.
