The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the transfer petitions (criminal) filed by Sujatha Ravi Kiran of Kochi into the charges of wife swapping and sexual abuse against her husband Lt. Cdr Ravi Kiran and others.
The prayer made by her to transfer the investigation carried out by the Kerala Police to the CBI on the misconceived grounds of alleged bias/ connivance with the Indian Navy has also been disbelieved and, thereby, dismissed by an apex court bench comprising Chief Justice of India Justice U.U. Lalit and Justice R. Banumathi.
The apex court has also directed the Kerala Police to continue with the investigation by constituting a special investigating team comprising officials of the Kerala Police headed by a DIG-level officer and to complete the investigations preferably within three months.
The Indian Navy, on its part, strongly denied the allegations made Sujatha. The Kerala Police has also denied any influence by the Indian Navy in the investigation.
