Wikipedia has released an update for Android with many new features aimed at making it easier to quickly research a topic including pop- up previews and tabbed browsing.
According to The Next Web, the update brings an article preview pop-up whenever the users tap on a link in an article. This will allow the users to start reading a fragment of information and see a few images before deciding if they want to read the whole article.
Also, the app now supports tabbed browsing, so the users can start different research threads without losing track of anything. The users just have to long press the link to open a link in a new tab.
In addition, there is a quick language switcher button that appears to the right of the search bar when the users have tapped in the 'Search Wikipedia' box.
The Wikimedia Foundation says that it will bring the preview feature to its iOS app soon and they are exploring mobile Web options.
