'Will give a bigger package than Rs 50K crore to Bihar': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched a number of government schemes in the poll-bound Bihar today, promised the people of the state a package bigger than the amount of Rs 50,000 crore.

"When I came before the Lok Sabha elections, I had announced that we will give Bihar a special package of Rs 50,000 crore. Looking at our dreams for a prosperous Bihar, we will give a bigger package than Rs 50,000 cr. This is my promise," said the Prime Minister.

"Nitish ji said he has high hopes from our government, we are working towards fulfilling the states' needs by increasing allocation to states. The development of Bihar is our Prime Agenda, development of eastern India is our mission," he added.

Seeking to kick start the BJP's poll campaign in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a slew of schemes, including the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) here on Saturday.

The Prime Minister, who shared the stage with Nitish Kumar, flagged off the Daniyawa-Biharsharif Railway line and the Patna-Mumbai railway line.

He also dedicated the permanent campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Patna to the nation and an incubation centre for medical electronics.
