Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangme on Friday said that the state government will provide all possible support to the Army and the Assam Rifles to tackle the situation in the aftermath of yesterday's militant attack.
"From the state side, we have registered an FIR, done spot inquiry and the state will give all possible support further to the army and the Assam Rifles to tackle the situation," said Gangme.
Three militant organisations - the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K), the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) have reportedly claimed
responsibility for Thursday's ambush of on army convoy in Manipur's Chandel District.
At least 18 army men were killed and 11 injured in the ambush.
