West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has backed his side to win the Cricket World Cup, and believes that the squad has the firepower to bag the coveted trophy, for which the tournament gets underway in Australia and New Zealand next month.
Following his match-winning exploits with the bat at St George's Park against South Africa on Sunday, Russell said that this just goes to show that West Indies can defeat big teams.
The all-rounder claimed that they have to use the resources West Indies has now, adding that they just have to go and win the World Cup, Sport24 reported.
Russell displayed his dominating form as he knocked 64 from 40 balls to help his side to a one-wicket win over South Africa with nine balls to spare chasing 263 in the fourth ODI in Port Elizabeth.
South Africa and West Indies will now head to Centurion for the final match of the series on Wednesday with the scoreline 3-1 in favour of the hosts.
Russell said that he is not thinking about going to compete, adding that he is thinking about going to win the World Cup, just like South Africa, or Australia or any of those teams.
Russell insisted that they have the team that can still win the World Cup.
