West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree has called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Caribbean government to rescue the sport in the region.

Expressing his disappointment at the current plight of the Islanders' stand in the international cricket, Badree said that he was deeply pained to see the once-formidable West Indies team slump at an alarming level, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The 34-year-old, who will also play in this year's Big Bash league for Brisbane heat, insisted that there was an immediate need to get the country's cricket back on track.

Besides him, other West Indies star players like Chris Gayle, Keiron Pollard, Samuel Badree, Darren Sammy, Russell and Dwayne Bravo have opted to play in the money-driven T20 leagues rather than representing their nation.

West Indies suffered another humiliating defeat by an innings and 212 runs against Australia in the first Test of the three-match series in Hobart.
