A 21-year-old woman was mercilessly stabbed to death in broad daylight by a man, who had been stalking her for months, at North Delhi's Burari area this morning.
The woman, Karuna, works as a teacher at the Novel Reaches School.
DCP (North) Madhur Verma said the assailant had been troubling the woman since a year.
"The family had lodged a complaint four to five months back and both families had reached a compromise. The assailant is 34 years old and his divorce case is going on. There are 22 stab wounds on the girl's body and she was declared brought dead at the Trauma Center," he added.
Following this, the victim's family had lodged a complaint four to five months back following which both families had reached a compromise.
Eye witness Manish Kumar, who took the woman to the hospital, said the man stabbed her at least 30 -35 times.

"I was standing at labour chowk. I saw a guy come on bike and then as the girl went by, the man attacked the girl with a knife," Kumar said.
"I ran and went to help the girl. I called on 100 twice, the police did not come, then I called the ambulance, no one came. After that I just called an auto-rickshaw and brought her to the hospital," he added.
The woman was declared brought dead at the Sushruta Trauma Centre.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has dubbed the incident as extremely shameful.
"It comes on a day when we are coming out with our annual report and this heinous and nerve chilling crime incident takes place. The DCW is working to improve the situation but it cannot happen unless and until both the Centre and state work together," she told ANI.
