Coming down heavily on Dayashankar Singh for his derogatory slur against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, women activists on Monday demanded strict action against the expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader.

Condemning Singh, woman activist Ranjana Kumari told ANI that these kinds of people are a scar on the face of politics.

"These people have forced the common people to not have faith on the politicians. They talk irresponsibly. Keeping these kinds of dirty thoughts for a reputed politician reflects their own dirty mind. This is the reason why he could not even save his party post. This kind of statement against a woman politician is an insult to the entire woman community. He should be arrested and should be given strict punishment," she added.

Resonating similar sentiments, former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Barkha Shukla Singh said, "On one hand, we worship women as goddess, and on the other hand, comparing any woman of any party with dog or with any animal is extremely bad. Action must be taken against him. I would request all women not to support this kind of a person. If a woman does not support another woman then we cannot call ourselves women."

Dayashankar, who was earlier arrested for making derogatory comments against Mayawati and subsequently booked under the SC/ST Act, on Sunday equated the BSP supremo to a 'dog' and called her a 'coward woman'.

However, he later denied equating Mayawati to a dog.

He had earlier in July called Mayawati a "prostitute", while accusing her of selling her party tickets to the highest bidders.
