Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, who met Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali in the national capital on Friday, said that politics over 'art, culture and music' would not be permitted in the state at any cost and added that the entire controversy was not the example of an 'ideology' but of politics.

"It was great meeting Ghulam Ali today and he has agreed to perform in Delhi. Politics of hatred needs to be stopped immediately. The BJP and the Shiv Sena have failed on the matter of governance and to divert people's attention from that, they are indulging in these kinds of politics," Mishra told ANI here.

"Ghulam Ali sir, I am a big fan of yours. It was great talking to you. Thanks for agreeing to do a program in Delhi in Dec," Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.

The Shiv Sena had defended banning Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali from performing in Mumbai and Pune, saying what they had done was in true spirit of patriotism and slammed Kejriwal for inviting the singer to perform in the national capital, accusing him of doing 'vote bank politics'.

"Our fight is with Pakistan, we do not have any enmity with Ghulam Ali. This is a patriotic sentiment and if Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee do not understand it, then it is unfortunate for them. They are doing vote bank politics through Ghulam Ali," Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut told ANI.
