Golf stars Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are reportedly set to earn big money with a lucrative, one-round exhibition appearance next month in China, increasing their already-bulging bank accounts.
The world No.1 and the Northern Irish golf ace will face off at the 180-hole Mission Hills complex in the city of Shenzhen in China, which is one of the world's biggest golf resorts, on October 28, announced the organisers,
According to Sport24, a similar duel between McIlroy and Woods last year at an event to promote luxury real estate at Jinsha Lake in China, in which McIlroy defeated Woods, was played for a reported two million dollars in comparison to the winner's cheque at this year's US Masters, which was 1.44 million dollars.
Stating that he is hoping to win this time in China after losing out to McIlroy at last year's 'Duel at Jinsha Lake', the 14-time Major winner said that as he had a very good year on the PGA Tour, it would be nice to earn another trophy in China.
Although the match-up is unlikely to help McIlroy turn around a poor season after his huge-money switch to Nike, he said that he is expecting to have fun again at the event, adding that he is ready for another showdown against Woods as he feels that he is getting his game back again.
The report mentioned that McIlroy won his second major and topped the money list on both sides of the Atlantic last year, but he has slumped since signing a deal worth a reported 250 million dollars over a decade.
The 'Match at Mission Hills' is sandwiched between the seven million-pound BMW Masters and 8.5 million-pound WGC-HSBC Champions, both in Shanghai and the highlights of Asia's late-year flurry of golf tournaments, the report added.
