Dr. Chopra said, "California Walnuts are an ideal choice for a balanced diet plan and may help to offset some of the impacts of junk food being consumed by millions of Indians these days. There is enough research to support that daily intake of walnuts can reduce the risk of coronary heart diseases.Walnuts are the only nuts which contain a significant amount of alpha-linolenic acid; a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid required by the human body for normal growth and development."
To raise awareness about the heart health benefits of Walnuts, California Walnuts Commission also commemorated the entire month of September as World Heart Month with the launch of the global campaign 'I Heart Walnuts.' Under the campaign, the commission launched an exciting contest on its social media platforms along with a special series of content created to highlight the amazing benefits of consuming walnuts in a daily diet and the benefits they provide for a healthy heart.
In addition to experts from India, the scientific feast also saw participation from international faculty from American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO) & American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI).
