Stand-in Proteas captain AB de Villiers believes his team is peaking at the right time after qualifying for the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

After losing their opening match to Sri Lanka and achieving narrow wins against New Zealand and the Netherlands, the South Africans have put up their best performance of the tournament to beat England by three runs, Sport24 reports.

De Villiers said the side is looking good and that it was up to them to play another good game later this week.

In the game against England, De Villiers' 28-ball 69 was the difference between the two sides, an innings the 30 year-old says he thoroughly enjoyed.

Statistics reveal that De Villiers averages 46 with a strike-rate of 183 when he comes to the crease after 10 overs and a lowly 14 when he comes to the crease before 10 overs.

The Proteas are in Dhaka, and will wait on the results of the final round of matches to see which team they play in the semi-finals.

De Villiers described the Proteas being in the semi-finals as a huge and great honour, besides being a brilliant achievement.
