New Delhi [India], August 7 (ANI): Indian wrestler Jashkawar Gill, who failed to make his international debut after the organisers of the World Ranking series tournament in Turkey refused him to take the mat wearing his patka, has sought help from the Sports Ministry in the matter.

The young wrestler said that he has a lot of expectations from the government and that the Sports Ministry's intervention in the matter would be a very impactful thing to happen.

In a telephonic interview to ANI, Gill said," Yes, I expect a lot from the government. I was in training institute of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the government spends a lot of money on athletes like us. If we as athletes could not produce output in return for all the facilities that are provided to us then what is the use,".

"If Rathore sir (Rajyavardhan Rathore) could help us it would be a really big thing," he added.

Earlier, the tournament officials had asked the wrestler to tie his hair like girls in order to participate. However, Gill denied the orders citing his religious beliefs.

The wrestler, who claimed that such incident has happened with him for the very first time, underscored that if similar treatment was served to him in future as well then he would definitely fight back instead of backing out.

Shedding light on his future tournaments, Gill said that he would be participating in many events including Senior National Championship and All India Police Championship.

Reacting to the matter, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore had earlier said that the government would look into the same.
