Writer K. S. Bhagwan, who received a threatening tweet from fundamentalist Bhuvith Shetty, on Monday said he felt sorry for persons such as the latter who fail to understand or don't want to see other people's point of view.
"I got to know through the press, I feel sorry for such persons. At this juncture, I request the government to view this matter very seriously and round up the miscreants and take suitable action," Bhagwan told ANI.
"MM Kalburgi was a great scholar of Karnataka, he used to say to me that we sail in the same boat," he added.
Bhagwan, who is also an eminent rationalist, stressed that fundamentalists indulge in these activities because they don't have an open mind and they don't try to see the other's point of view," he said.
"When their mind is closed, this kind of thinking happens. It's pity that such miscreants are created by the fundamentalists."
Earlier today,Mangalore Rural Police registered a suo moto case against Bhuvith Shetty under Sections 506 and 153A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) over a threatening tweet.
Shetty had tweeted, "Then it was UR Ananthamurthy and now MM Kalburgi. Mock Hinduism and die a dogs (sic.) death. And dear KS Bhagwan you are next.
