Yahoo has reportedly hired New York Times reporter David Pogue to head its consumer-focused technology news.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer said that Pogue will lead a major expansion of consumer tech coverage on the site and will publish columns, blog posts and video stories that demystify the gadgets, apps and technology that powers users' daily lives.
According to News24, the announcement of Pogue's hiring comes amidst Mayer's aggressive measures to redefine the fading internet search giant as an online venue for 'premier digital content'.
Pogue,50, has been a high-profile columnist for the New York Times, an author and an Emmy-winning television correspondent.
Mayer further revealed that Pogue has always been one of her favorite journalists and Yahoo will begin publishing his tech stories online by the year end.
Meanwhile, Pogue said that he was excited to join the Yahoo team and have a new experience, the report added.
