Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik and social activist Swami Agnivesh were detained by the Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday while they were on their way to Narbal, on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Malik has been on a 30-hour long hunger strike in protest against the proposed separate township for Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley.

"We will not allow the construction of separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits. Allow Kashmiri Pandits to choose the area they want to live in. We will all live together and die together," Malik had said at a joint press conference before his detention.

Swami Agnivesh, too, added that constructing a separate colony will kill the concept of a composite culture.

The separatist leaders have been vehemently opposed to separate townships for Kashmiri Pandits and had even called for a complete shutdown across the valley over the issue.
