Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi's supporters have reportedly pushed back Shia Houthi rebels in the southern city of Aden, day after the rebels stormed the presidential palace in the city, officials said.
Apart from conducting air strikes, the Saudi-led coalition also airdropped arms and communications equipment in order to back the offensive launched by Hadi loyalists, reported the BBC.
Meanwhile, Mukalla, another port city in the conflict-torn region, fell into the hands of Al Qaeda militants, who took control of a military base.
The crisis has left more than 500 people dead and some 1,700 wounded, UN humanitarian chief Valerie Amos said.
After rebels stormed Aden, Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia on March 25.
