A massive explosion has reportedly killed Gaafar Mohamed Saad, the governor of the city of Aden and six of his bodyguards in Yemen.
The Guardian reports that the attack took place when Saad was travelling to his office in a convoy in the Rimbaud area of the southern port city, as per the officials.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the blast.
Earlier this year, pro-government forces backed by a Saudi-led coalition drove Shia Houthi rebels out of Aden and a local Al-Qaida associate has been growing in Aden.
