Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Dimple Yadav on Thursday said the issue of women safety should be taken very seriously, and added that rapes are not just happening in only one state.
"You cannot just say that rapes are happening in just one state. It is an important social issue faced by the whole country, and we should take it very seriously. We need to discuss this issue and take steps," said Yadav.
"Our party is very strict on this issue and will ensure that the culprits are given strict punishment. Our government is working in this direction," she added.
Two cousins, aged 14 and 15, went missing from their homes last Tuesday and were found hanging from a mango tree the next day, leading to an expression of outrage nation-wide.
