Eleanor Catton, who became the youngest winner of the Man Booker prize, has taken another swipe at Kiwi critics.

In an interview with the Guardian, the 28-year-old author claimed that her youth had made her a target of "bullying" male critics.

Catton pointed out that all the negative reaction that she received had been most vehement from men over the age of 45, and like every kind of bullying, had more to do with them rather than her, Stuff.co.nz reported.

'The Luminaries' having 832 pages is the longest book to win the Man Booker prize which in turn annoyed the critics even more.

She said that interviewers seldom engage with the woman as a serious thinker.
