Veteran Pakistani batsman Younus Khan, who was let down by his young teammates in the UAE, is reportedly set to be recalled by the national selection committee in the one-day team for the away tour of South Africa.
Despite Khan's poor record in South Africa, where he averages only 26.4 in 15 matches against the Proteas, the team management feels that it is necessary to induct a senior player with experience and have therefore named the senior player in the initial 20-man list.
According to the Express Tribune, an official said that Khan would be in the Pakistan line-up for the one-day matches against South Africa as he has a good experience of playing in those conditions, which will benefit captain Misbah-ul Haq and his side, and can play an important part in the series.
However, the official admitted that the committee is facing the problem of accommodating the players of both the Twenty20 and one-day squads because Cricket South Africa (CSA) has given a limit of only 16 players to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Pakistan is set to play three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and two Twenty20s against the Proteas in a short tour later this month, the report added.
