Thousands of youth from different districts of Assam as well as from Arunachal Pradesh took part in a recruitment rally being conducted by the Indian Army recently.
Through this recruitment drive, hundreds of people will be selected and absorbed into the different regiments of the Indian Army.
The army officials were impressed by the large turnout.
Brigadier Ram Vijay Singh said: "I feel very nice. It is my privilege that we have got an opportunity to conduct a rally here. We go to all corners of the north east to recruit. We have got a good response and I am sure the response ahead will be good."
The Indian Army and other security forces regularly conduct such recruitment programmes in the region with an aim to increase the presence of youth from the Northeast in the armed forces.
The candidates are selected after a rigorous physical and health screening.

Such recruitment rallies not only provide these youth a chance to serve their country, but also provide a good employment opportunity.
Aribesha Sarma, an aspirant, said: "The main reason to join the army is to serve the nation. Our wish will also be fulfilled and even for our families this will be good. That is why I want to join the army."
The enthusiasm displayed by the youth to join the armed forces reflects their keen interest to be a part of the mainstream and work towards the development of the country.
