Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohammad Zaka Ashraf has insisted that he has no knowledge of an approach to any Pakistan cricketer by bookmakers during the 2012 Pakistan-England series in the UAE.

British reports claimed that Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal were approached separately for rigging the ODI series, although the duo immediately refused and reported the approaches to the team management.

According to The Dawn, Ashraf said that no information about fixing was brought to his knowledge at that time, adding that he does not think any such incident actually occurred during the 2012 series, in which England won the ODI series 4-0 while Pakistan won the three Tests.

Ashraf, who was present in the UAE during that series, also urged the present PCB management to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter given the fact that such controversies arise mostly during Pakistan-England series.
