Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said a peaceful and honourable resolution of Kashmir issue was important for peace and stability in the region.
The comments were made by Zardari during a meeting with UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon in Pakistan.
On Afghanistan, he reiterated that it has abiding interest in stability, peace and development of the neighbouring country.
According to the Daily Times, he lauded efforts being made under United Nations for global peace and security, support to democracy and global economic and sustainable development.
Talking about the situation in the region, Zardari said Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability.
He added that the country has been making sincere efforts to improving its relations with India through dialogue and cooperation.
On terrorism, he said that the region and people of Pakistan in particular, has been the worst sufferer of terrorism and militancy.
He however appreciated the role of UN in developing legal instruments on counter-terrorism.
